It has been a while, so I better get moving.
I have been busy with the release of my Dutch book Evolutie, which has got me flat out over the last couple of weeks. Although the blog tour is still running, things have settled down a bit on the promotion campaign.
In the meantime I’ve been to two writing events, one of them in Rotterdam. Get inspired by books, truly was an inspirational afternoon, spend with other writers. They’ve talked about the writing process, how to keep in touch with your readers (yes, I paid attention there, guys) and how to proceed if your dream is publishing abroad.
I picked up a couple of books on the way out, and got ready for my next event last Saturday.
De dag van het Fantastische boek (a day committed to the fantastic genre – meaning SF and fantasy- ) was a kaleidoscope of workshops, listening to speakers, and talking to experts. Ninja is a good friend and writing buddy, we spend most of our afternoon talking to editors, publishers and learning how to pitch a book.
Again, I couldn’t resist buying some books. I love to read.
I mean, look at this beautiful book. Can you blame me for buying it? This is the first book in a series. The lure of the dragon on this cover was too much for me. I just had to have it.
Talking about dragons: Mara’s second story Blood Rivals is nearing its first finished draft. I am making progress and hope to send it off to the editor soon. The third and final book in the series Blood Magic is beginning to take shape as well.
And then there is Transporter: Origins. A story that started out as a short story, but has currently reached 151 pages. There is still some work to do, but I am getting there.
Terra Nova is almost ready for the editor.
So, there’s your answer to my absence of late. I just blame the dragons. What have you been up to?
